Ben

This picture shows power and authority of the model because his arms are folded and his face is serious, its an medium shot of him and he is looking directly at the audience and this will get their attention also the audience can see what is he wearing a black T-shirt that has a picture of a skull and this shows how scary he is.

This picture shows that he plays guitar and that he has his head high and this shows that hes looking down at people.
This picture is a medium close up and the audience can see the spiky bracelets and the necklaces he is wearing.

This picture is a wide medium shot and it shows the costume that the rock star is wearing properly and this is what they would normally wear.

This is a long shot and this shows everything of whats he is wearing and the props, this picture shows

This picture shows how he is a angry or he is looking at something disgusting.
This is a medium close up of him and its to show his face. The picture is in a dark background due to the lighting and this is underexposed so I might not use this picture however I am use Photoshop to manipulate the picture to make it, look the way I want it to look on the front cover or on the double spread page.

This is a long shot and it shows power and authority because his arms are folded also his head is slightly tilted down to show that this power and authority he has also another costume of his is that he is wearing black jeans and this is the type of clothes they wear also he is staring straight at the audiences.

This is another long shot, its similar to the one above however its a different pose and this pose is that he is making a fist and this again shows power and strength. This pictures shows that he is angry at something or someone and he looking straight at the audience so it looks like he is angry at the audiences.
His left arm is overexposed so this isn't suitable for my magazine.










This is a long shot and it shows the mise en scene costume that my model is wearing and the costume he is wearing is associated with a heavy metal type of band also the facial expression he is making shows that he is angry. This is a picture that I could use for the double spread page.

This is a medium shot and my model’s hair is going backwards this because the fan was facing him.

This is a long medium shot and my model arms are folded and this shows that he is annoyed, angry at something and if the audience see this they will think it’s them because he is directly looking in to the audience’s.

This is again another medium long shot, my model focus is on his hand, and it could be a metaphor to show that he got the power in his hands also again the fan is blowing on the right side this time.

Damien 

This is a medium shot of Damien and he is making a rock out sign/symbol and this is what heavy metal artists do also there is black eye liner under his eyes and this is what the make-up they wear too.

He is wearing a leather coat jacket and that is the type of costume a heavy metal artists would wear.

This is a medium long shot of my model, this picture shows that he plays the guitar and this is the type of instrument heavy metal artists usually plays also in this shot, the audience can see the type of T-shirt he is wearing and its black again this links to what a heavy metal type of artists would wear.

This a medium shot, this shows the facial expression of my model, the face that he is making is a disgusted type of face as in he is disgusted of what he sees a kind of scary face to scare people off. The prop is the necklace around his neck, a yin and yang.this could show that he has two sides to him.

This is a medium long shot and it shows that proud of himself, however his eyes looks like its close and this can the audience less interested in the magazine if they see this on the front cover so it’s not suitable. 

This is low angle shot and this is trying to represent power and authority because heavy metal artists look powerful also that’s the purpose of a low angle shot to power. This picture shows the ceilings and this is not suitable to be in my magazine however I can use Photoshop to get rid of the background if I want to use this picture.

This a medium shot, and it’s the disgusted face however it’s with a leather jacket so it slightly different. 

Looking at the pictures I can say that there some good pictures I can potential use how ever I want to make a decision when I take pictures of my other models to pick the best one that is suitable for my front cover.

Final decision on the double page spread

What I had previously post about what decisions I am going to put in my double spread is not a double page spread because it going to look like to different pages also I didn't see this in my research so I have to think of a new idea that I am going to put on my double page spread. what I am going to will be explained in this post.

In my double page spread I want to have a double spread page about a up-coming event and the content of the up-coming event is going to be articles about bands and artists that who is going to play and so there is going to be a picture of where the up-coming event is going to be and pictures of some of the artists/bands that will play there and the text will be articles about some of the artists/bands.

By doing this, it allows me to use the feedback from what I got from the respondents who has taken part in my questionnaire.

The text on the left page is going to talk about facts about the up-coming events, how long it has been going on and stuff like that, how many bands/artists are taking parts this year and its kinda a preview of whats going to happen so the articles are not going to explain everything in detail just a belief or whats going to happen on that day.

Then on the right page is going to be a picture of the up-coming events/ bands that are going to take part this year and then text about the bands/artists so a article about the band/artists and so reviews about them also and this again it me using my feedback from what I got from the respondents who taken part in my questionnaire.

However this idea that I want to, I haven't seem in it in my research and I am not trying to invent a new magazine so I won't be able to make this on my double page spread.

Instead in my double spread I am going to have a band/artists and its articles and reviews about them and how they become a artists/bands.

On the left page the double spread page could be a article about the band/artists and then a review about them also and facts about them that the audience wants to know about them.

Then on the right page is going to be pictures of the bands/artists and then more text about them and then at the bottom right corner will be a music chart update to inform the audiences about popular songs and bands.

This is the decision I am going to go with because I saw this in my research for all of my magazine they have articles and reviews about them on the same page.

Decisions of what to put in my contents page, Double spread page and front cover page

Today I am going to think about what I need in to be in my magazine as in the contents.

Front cover
On my front cover I have to take a picture someone who is suitable for the music genre because I am doing a heavy metal rock magazine so I will need someone who dresses in the same way and looks similar like a rock artists.
The person that will be on my front cover will have to dress in a leather jacket and will have long or short hair and they might hold a symbolic symbol for example: a guitar or bass guitar or maybe the person make a rock symbol to show that they like heavy metal.
The costume should be a leather coat jacket or a trench coat and they should have sunglasses on maybe.
The facial expression of the person should be them with there tongue sticking out or have a serious face or maybe with their mouth open as like they are shouting perhaps.

The masthead should be at the top so the audience can see it also they will know the name of it when its on the top also in my research I found out that, magazines don't put their mastheads at the bottom or middle of the magazine it's usually at the top.
I will put lots of contents and teasers at the front of the magazine because this will attract younger audiences too also it promotes the magazine too.

Content Page
In my contents page I am going to mention about a music chart up-date because everyone wants to know about rock musics.

Also I should mention articles about bands/artists also have pictures of the artists or the bands that might be on my magazine so the audiences knows who the magazine is going to talk about.
 Pictures then the text next to it and it will be a picture of who the contents page is talking about.

In my content I am going to mention a about the reviews and articles that are going to happen on the double spread page.
Then on the right box on the right side of the page will be text that talks about who made the magazine.


Double page spread 
In my double  page spread I am going to put Promotions of Up-coming events(Concerts and Festivals) because from my research majority of the respondents say that this is important feature to them also I am going to put Articles about Artists/bands.

On one page of my double spread page I am going to put pictures that I am going to take and put them on my double spread page so the text will be above then a picture below of a concert or a festival that will soon come and that will part of the other picture as well.

Then on the other double page spread I am going to have articles about a band/artists because it from my research majority of the respondents say that they "always" see articles about a bands/artists so that's what I am going to put also next the text there will be pictures of the band/artists that the article is talking about so the audience will know who they are also the festivals is the band/artists that the article is about.

Also they will be a music chart update on this page too, I think this is important to have in my magazine because it helps to audience to know what band and music is at the top and that is very popular and what is not also it gets the audience to know more about heavy metal/rock bands and songs that they haven't heard of and this will be set on the bottom page

Front cover
This first image is what my front cover is going to be.

The masthead is going to be over the main image not behind as all the heavy metal/rock magazines have.

As you can see here, the main image will take most of the space on the front cover so the band or a artists will be on a front cover and then and the boxes that are on the sides are teasers to promote the magazine to get the audience to want to buy the magazine I don't know yet what the teasers will be but it will be good though.
There are lot of teasers and contents on the front cover because in my research I saw this with kerrang and I am doing the same type of music as kerrang heavy rock.
Also there is a coverline will be at bottom of the page.







Content page
The second image is what my contents page is going to be.

The headline is a the top of the page and then on the right side of the page its going to be picture of whats on a certain page, and on the left side there are two boxes with has crossheads to make it easier for the audience to read and then a the bottom there is another crosshead.

The third image is what my double spread is going to be.This is the left page of my double spread page, on this page there is
6 boxes, 6 boxes are text.

The box on the top is article about band/artist and the box next to it is going to be pictures of the band/artist so the audience will know who the article is talking about.

Then below is a another article about a new album that the band/artist has released and other facts maybe about the album then on the box next to it, is the history of the band/artist so the audience can know more about how the band/artist became what they are today.

This the right page of my double spread page, on this page the top part will be a image that will be informing the audience about a new band/artists.

Then the box at the bottom is music chart so the audience can know who what is the newest popular music that month also it aloud them to know more bands and other artists that they never heard of.

Magazine name, logo and housestyle

Magazine name

My magazine name will be now called fullmetal because it states what the magazine is going to be about also it goes with my music genre as I stated before also it makes more sense also it "full" and "metal" together and this makes sense because my music genre is heavy metal/rock and fullmetal could mean to the audience a pure heavy metal type of music.The dark red colour is what the audience will associated a heavy metal magazine to have on it.

This is what the masthead will look like on the magazine or I might change the colour to silver.

Logo of magazine

I think the logo should be this because its a ball that looks metal and it has a red centre and at the sides it silver also the pattern in the circle makes it look a like a rock that is metal, the problem with this logo is that rocks are not perfectly around like a ball.

The logo is a ball that shows it completed because for something to be full it has to be at its limit also inside the ball it’s full of metal and I show this though the design of the ball and the design shows its metal that is full in a ball also the colour is gradually becoming red inside the ball and this links with the colour of the title because the title is also is red.

I have created my logo by using Photoshop, Photoshop allowed me to find the right colour and shading for logo that I couldn't use on Microsoft word or PowerPoint.

House style
The colour scheme that I am going use it black, silver/white and red so the text that the magazine is going to be in will be in white/silver or black or red depending on the background of the page and the font size is going to be 20-30 depending on what happening on the page this is for the normal size font but for headlines it is going to be 40-50 depending on how its going to fit the page the way I want it to.

The type of the language I am going to use is formal and informal at some parts of the magazine and font style is going to be "Franklin Gothic Heavy" because that font will suit my music magazine.

I choose the font style to be franklin gothic heavy because it’s a darker colour of the font colour black also it makes the text easier for the audience to read also the font style is similar like the font being set on bold when it’s not and this makes the audience think that the text must be important if it looks like it’s in bold because when text is in bold it must mean that it is important to read and that it should stand out and this is why I chose it.

Deciding on the name of the magazine

I have to come up with a name for my music magazine

HARD: I think I might call it hard because its a heavy rock/metal type of music magazine and that name kind of suits the heavy rock/metal genre.

When its manufacture I ideally want the title to be embossed to represent the name of the magazine – hard. The connatation of this is solid, metal like material, bold, unbreakable and this is the advantages of using hard as the title of my magazine.

The word hard stands out and the way of the logo presents hardness and it goes with the type of music genre because the sounds are loud and heavy metal/rock music is hard because metal and rocks are hard so it makes sense for the name hard.

The disadvantage of using the word hard for my magazine name is that its too common or basic that it wouldn't really attract people

HETAL: A name I made up is Hetal because heavy rock and metal it's technically the same thing its the first letter of heavy and its "etal" in Metal.
Hetal is a made up word and people might to attract to this because its different and unusual and when they look or read the magazine and they found out its a heavy metal/rock music magazine they get the idea of why its called hetal also that is the advantages of using hetal for a title for my music magazine.
The disadvantages of using hetal as a title for my music magazine is that some people might get confused and think its an odd name and this could make them not want to read the magazine, they will be judging a book by its cover and if they don't like it they won't read it.

This is what the masthead looks like below and it has a red outline and the colour of the "hetal is grey and  black as you can see the bottom of the word is black and the top bit of the words is a kindof grey colour. this is what I have so far it's an basic idea of what the logo would look like for hetal.

GRIND: The name "grind" goes with heavy metal/rock names because grind is a loud and this type of music is loud also the this logo looks like suitable for the cover of the magazine

Grind is a onomatapia for the sound that metal makes and in this case metal is associated with heavy rock/metal it makes sense to call it "grind".

FULLMETAL: The name "fullmetal" goes with my music genre heavy metal/rock because its stating that the magazine is fully because of the word full.

I will call my magazine full metal because it makes sense and it links with my music genre because my music genre is heavy metal and the name full metal will make sense because for something to be full means it at its point also it means that the song is full and completed.

I think I will go with the name fullmetal because its states what the magazine is going to be about also it goes with my music genre as I stated before also it makes more sense than the other names I put for my music magazine.

There ware 15 respondents that answered my questionnaire its's a lot of people but it could of been more if people just answer my questionnaire, anyway I am now going to look at the results as a whole to see what decides I am going to make for my music magazine.

The first question is "What is Your Gender" 7 respondents are female and 8 respondents are male.

The second question is "What is Your age" three respondents are 14 and under and the other 12 respondents are "15 to 24".

The questionnaire helps me now to know what to do for my music magazine, in my music magazine I am going to use the colour red as my colour scheme of the magazine and this is going to affect the house style of the magazine and its a draw of what rock genre I should do so I think I am going with heavy rock because I know heavy rock (metal) type of music more than the others, in the my music magazine I could put the Promotes of upcoming events because its the most important feature for people to see and what they are expect to see is Band/Artists reviews so I will have this also in my music magazine also what the people "always" in a rock genre magazine is Articles about Artists/Bands and what attracts people within the front cover of a magazine is an Artists/bands.
