The magazines that I analysed before I now need to analysis them with the brand eye.

Classic Rock Magazine
Classic rock magazine is about rock music and they have the reviews of the newest rock albums and bands also the magazine is about the world of rock.
In the magazine they have the latest news about each rock star celebrities so old time legends and new ones and what they been up to in the years and talk about their lifes.

Brand eye

Core Proposition
-they love rock music and anything to do of rock.

Brand personality- Passionate and loves about rock music and artists. High Voltage Rock ‘n’ roll” (from their website)

Target readers- 16+ because anyone can like rock music but specifically its middle 30s because they will buy the magazine more than people under 18 and they are more likely to be male readers and in the category of Mosaic classification is L (Vintage Value) and E (Senior Security) and H(Aspiring Homemakers)  my reasons for L (Vintage Value) and E (Senior Security) is retired people because in their time they liked to listen to theses bands/artists.

Say about you-that the audience loves rock music and wants to know the newest information about rock bands and albums,  That the audience is interested in the rock music and might be inspired by the rock artists.

Also tells the audiences what shops have the greats offers like HMV as you can see on the picture of the left.

What you perceive- it gives the audience interesting reviews about each band.

Make you feel-Makes the audiences feel that they're in the rock music world and makes them feel inspired by the older and popular bands/artists because they might look up to them and try to replica them or prepares try to become popular as them.

Classic Pop Magazine

Kerrang

Brand personality- Loves Heavy Rock/metal music and the bands.

Target readers- 16-27 but mainly teenagers and young adults because teenagers listen are more likely to listen to this type of rock more than older people, the audience is these people that I think that belong in the  category of O66 (Student Scene),  J41 (Disconnected Youth) and  O62 (Central Pulse) because the teenagers are students who are likely to be in education(school).

It's not H(Aspiring Homemakers) because it's unlikely for doctor or police officer to listen to this type of music because not everyone like heavy rock music that is loud and sounds very aggressive and this is type of music is associated with teenager.
Also the audiences are mainstreamers because the magazine kerrang is well known.

Jazz journal magazine
Jazz journal is an jazz music magazine about jazz bands and jazz artists.

Brand eye

Core Proposition-
The audiences loves jazz music and the jazz artists/bands

Brand personality- engaged in jazz music.

Target readers- middle 40s people mainly but age 30-60 because young people are more interested in rock, hip-pop and R&B than jazz also there isn't a lot of jazz people who is interested in jazz at present than before and the audience is more likely to be in the L (Vintage Value) and E (Senior Security), H(Aspiring Homemakers) category because L (Vintage Value) and E (Senior Security) for retired people they will be more likely to know the artists/bands who is in the magazine than anyone else also H(Aspiring Homemakers)because it's associated as H(Aspiring Homemakers) type of people who are more likely to be interested in jazz.

Say about you- that the audience loves jazz music and they must be passionate about jazz

Benefits to you- Talks about the good old times when jazz popular for the L (Vintage Value) and E (Senior Security) type of audiences because now they were in the elderly age and before they were young and at the time they liked the artists/bands who plays jazz than the youth of today who is mainly interested in different types of music and famous jazz artists.

What you perceive-  That it tells the audience about artists lives and how they are successful and the ideas and thoughts about the music world and how things should go down in the music business.

Make you feel- makes the audience feel that they are in the past in the world of jazz again this links with the  L (Vintage Value) and E (Senior Security) audiences due to their are much older for them to be retired and it makes the reminiscence about the good times in their life and the jazz world

Four magazine analysed

The magazine that I analysed is Classic Rock, Classic pop, Kerrang and Jazz journal to see what I need to put in my music magazines and ideas.

Classic Rock Magazine

Classic rock is a monthly magazine that is about Rock music and rock artists and its owned by Team rock which is set in the UK, Scotland Glasgow.
The magazine came with an CD and this is trying to get the audience to start liking or know the type of music so rock that its on the CD so the company of that CD can make money when the audiences buy their music and products

Front cover

The masthead is the word Rock ad that is bigger than every word on the front cover and it's also an headline, the barcode at the bottom horizontal with the price and month and the word 'classic' is an overline because its above the masthead and the headline. The masthead is big and at the top of the page so the audience can see and know that magazine is "Classic Rock" and not get the magazine confused with another magazine.

A talkie headline is at the front cover where the three people standard its an sell because it's shows an quote that someone has said who is in the magazine and this promotes the magazine because the audience may want to know what is happening to the band called queen because is a popular a long time ago.

The picture on the front cover is three people are standing this is a medium long shot because its showing head to legs of the three people and the mise en scene is costume because the one in the middle is wearing a leather coat jacket and the prop is that he is also wearing earring and another person is wearing sunglasses this shows that this magazine is Rock and Roll type of magazine.

One code and convention is the barcode is horizontal and its the left side of the page and this is because the audiences is western so they will read left to right, not right to left also it's important for the audience to know how much something cost for them to buy it or not.

Content page

There's an wob on the content page where an male is in the picture who is a new album of queen and the text next to his legs are in white and the background is dark and this is use because the colour red stands out and it gets the audiences attention also its the 'cover story' of the magazine this means it is very important for the audience to read.

In the content page there's an picture on the left and the text is on the right, the content page has two pages and they both has the same type of layout.

Double spread page

I know that 36-37 is the double spread page because the magazine design is going across two pages. The text on page 36 has Drop caps the letters ‘M’ and ‘B’ and this is use to help the audience to know where to read from. The title is the same font colour as the drop caps also the font colour is white and the background is a darker colour this means a wob.
There is an pull out quote of what Roger Taylor a member of Queen.said in the article and the reason for the pull out quote is to show how important that quote is and how the audience must know what Roger Taylor said for it to stand out and for it to be a large font size that the audience can see and that's why it was done also the font colour is the same as the headline and the Drop caps and this makes it stand out more.

On page 37, there is a picture three people that are dressed as rock stars and there is no main text besides the classic rock title that is in a box and some text above and the text is white so it’s a wob because the background is darker than the text.

Classic Pop Magazine

Classic pop comes out monthly and it focuses on pop and pop artists/bands and it is owned by anthem publishing which is set in Bath and a British magazine company founded by Jon Bickley.

Front cover

The title of the magazine is at the top left corner and the masthead is the word 'classic pop' and the word 'classic' is a wob because of the darker background and the text is in white and this is use to get the audience attention due to it stands out very clearly for the audience to see it..

The picture that is on the front cover is three heads of three different people and the positions of their heads ate like an triangle and the shots that were used is a close up of three artists that is in a band.

The barcode is vertical and it has the price, date, issue number and who owns the company.

The housestyle of the text is capital letters and its the same for every word besides the words that are not in capital letters and those words are in the box with pictures of Artists and the words 'O' in 'POP'

Content page

The pictures is on the top/middle part of the page and the text is at the bottom and on the left side it's the name 'contents'. One big picture and two smaller pictures below it.On the left side at the bottom their is a text saying 'follow us' and the position they put in in is good because when the audiences reads the content page they will have to look down because all the information about the contents is at the bottom of the page so when they look down on the page they will see classic pop has a Facebook page, twitter and instagram and can lead the magazine to become more popular due to majority of people liking their pages on social media.

Double Spread page

On page 24 there is an title that is at the top of the page and the text is in white this means that it is a wob because of the background and the white text, also the main text starts of as a kicker because the first word 'y' is in an bigger front size than the rest of the text also it could be an drop cap also.

There is text on this that is all in capital letters and this means that the text is important also it's a larger font size than other text.

On page 25, Theres an picture of a man with sun glasses on and it's a medium shot of the man.

Kerrang Magazine

Kerrang is an British magazine about rock music but it's more about heavy metal/rock than rock and rock artists it is owned by Bauer media, a conglomerate company, that is set in Germany.

Front cover
The word kerrang is the title of the magazine also it’s the masthead and the headline also, its behind the main image and this a code and convection.
The barcode is vertical and the price and the date is with the barcode and this is a code and convection

There is an picture of an man that is holding an prop in his hand and the prop is a smartphone and it’s an medium shot of the man’s head to his waist and there is an pentagram and in each triangle there is a person and all of them are wearing masks and all of theses people are a member of slipknot. The word Slipknot is an wob because the font colour of the word slipknot is in white and the background is an dark red colour and this is done because so the audience can see the bands name better than if it was in a darker colour text.

Content page

On the content page, there is an medium size picture that is on the top part of the magazine that contains a wide long shot of four members from fall out boy then under that there's the content and different parts of the contents page has an headline for each category so its an cross head to make it easier for the reader(audience) and that's the purpose of it.

Double spread page

On page 40 there a headline that is in red and it takes the top bit of the page and the background design behind it is an spider web and the spider web goes in to the text a bit of the text.

There's an drop cap the word is 'O' as you can see on the image on the left the first paragraph, the letter 'O' is in red and it's in capital.

The text that is below the headline is a deck because its a short summary of the article and mentions the part of the article that gets the audience attention.

On page 41 there is an medium shot of a Maria Brink wearing an hat looking to the right.

Jazz Journal magazine

The magazine is about jazz music and jazz artists and the company who owns it JJ Publishing Ltd, Invicta Press Ltd and It was established in 1946 by Sinclair Triall.

Front cover

The front cover of the jazz magazine is that there’s an picture of the male on the left side of the magazine also the word jazz is in the colour white and the background is dark so this is a wob and the masthead is the word 'Jazz' also.

The barcode is horizontal and the price and date isn't with the barcode, the barcode is at the bottom of the front cover and price and date is at the top of the front cover under the box with the word Journal.
The picture of the man is a medium shot of the Kenny Barron’s head to wrist level.

Contents page

There are three columns that contain different things on the contents page
First coloumn contains things about the editor, second is about the contents of the magazine and what’s on each of the pages and the third columns is pictures who is in the magazine.

Double spread page

On page 10 there’s a kicker under the medium size picture that is the middle of the page the word starting with “I” and then the similar size is continued though the page and that’s the copy as well and it is also drop cap.

On page 11 there’s a picture on the top right corner of the page and there’s text next to the picture on the left side and there’s an feature on this page also as you can see here on the image below also there's an cross heads in the main text as you can see the ones that are bolded and this makes it easier for the audience to read because they will know where to read or start each section.

Preliminary Task magazine production

Here is my school magazine finished, My target audience for my magazine is students in secondary school to higher education and the students ages is 11-19 and this magazine is made to help students in their educational needs to help them achieve and that's why the title is called 'Success only a page away' with this as the title of my magazine it will get my target audiences attention. The reason why I chose the target audience age 11-19 because the information I gathered from my research from my survey.

How I made my magazine is with adobe in-design, it was hard at first to use adobe in-design because I am not used to it and I don't know how to use the techniques but after making my school magazine I know how to use it better than before a
nd I know some of the basics like zoom in, zoom out, changing the shape of the pictures, to grid and manipulating text and other things.

The title of the magazine is called 'Success only a page away' this gets the audiences attention right away because everyone in education wants to achieve with the highest mark possible so if they buy this magazine they have an advantage to make their grades boost to achieve the highest mark possible to get into a certain job they want or a certain sixth form and collage also a good University. Also the magazine title suggests that if they buy this magazine they will become successful in education and this will lead them to an successful life if they get good grades.

The colour I used for the title is red because the colour red stands out the most and its important to get the audiences attention for them to stop and look at the magazine, the font size of the title is that size(size 43)

The reason why the I used the person on my front cover magazine is that he is similar age to thoughs who is in education so its relevant to the audience who might want this magazine.

As you can see here, this is the front cover of my school magazine, the shot that I used for an medium shot of the boy on the front cover of my school magazine also the boy is winking this shows that he is an friendly type of person also the winking is promoting the magazine in away because the title of the magazine is called 'success only a page away' and the winking is saying that its true and its going to happen by reading the magazine also the background I used for this magazine was an school library and it works well with the magazine because the magazine title has the word 'page' and the background picture is books so its shows in a way that books is the answer for the audience to achieve.

I added an barcode to make it similar to an real magazine also in this barcode is the date and the price, I did this because usually the price and the date is in the barcode or near the barcode.

The writing on the front cover is just giving tips about how to achieve in education like the one that is in the colour white but a red outline saying "Don't procrastinate" this tip is very important for an student who is in education because the sometimes students leave the work till last minute and that is bad because they can't get it in much detail as they want but only do it to a minimal so the teachers will just accept and this can lead the students to underachieve because they do this again and again this means they have no time to do improvements on the work because the teacher might has to move on to the next topic or has to send it to the examiners.

The font colour of "Don't procrastinate" is white with an red outline I did this because if it was black the audience would't be able to see it and that isn't good to have for any magazine to have because if the audience can't see it then whats the point of having it there also the magazine is for the audience so its in their favour for them to see it and also it wouldn't been sold if the audience couldn't read it.

Also another text that is on the front cover is a quote from Nelson Mandela and people know him and like him so they might read what he is saying so using Nelson Mandela quotes is promoting the magazine for the audience to buy it and read it.

The font colour of "Education is the most powerful weapon which you use to change the world" Nelson Mandela is dark green and the outline is dark red because I haven't fully mastered changing colour in adobe in-design and this is one of my improvements I need to do because colour is very important for the main task that I have to do in the future so I can use colour to express the music genre when I know what type of genre I am doing or want to do.

Here is my content page of my magazine, its an picture of an library because its look educational and its supports the front cover due its in an library and on there is 20 pages in my magazine and if you look carefully you notice that the text goes in, out, in, out like an zigzag.

I position the text in a certain way that it won't go on the parts where the audiences can't read it probably.

Past few lessons

For the past view lessons we look at example music magazines that other people did and we had to mark
there work, the point of this task is so we know what the examiner is looking for so when we do the real evaluation I know what to put on it to get good marks also I learn that the costume and prop is important because it can support the magazine for example: the magazine that we looked at in class it was about rock and the person on the magazine was wearing a leather jacket and have a ring on their finger this shows that they dress like a rock star to make it a real magazine.
